Moving On
Afton has been much better the last few days. Two nights ago she was still struggling to sleep because of these uncontrollable shakes. Most of the drugs that were suspect to be causing this had been stopped over four days before that. So, we asked the doctors to give her a relaxer. We were worried about giving this because we didn’t want her to have an adverse reaction. However, Afton relaxed within 10 minutes of being given it. She smiled, giggled, and talked all night long. After that she fell into a deep sleep. She has now been sleeping and awake on and off. She seems so much happier and has pretty much stopped jerking altogether. Most of her awake time is spent watching movies, reading books, or just smiling at any visitors.
Afton has been transplanted for 7 days now and also has been at an 1A status for a new liver for 7 days. The decision was made today to take her off the list. We were not offered a better liver within the last week, and her liver numbers continue to improve. So, that means that Afton is keeping this liver for as long as it works. Most of the doctors assume she is going to need another transplant at some point but that is all unknown because this liver has been unpredictable. So, we are taking life one day at a time and enjoying our little girl.
