Back & Forth
After a brief stay at home, Afton returned to the hospital because of an infection that had given her a high fever. Because her anti-rejection medications compromise her immune system, this isn’t a complete surprise. We brought her in and treatment was started in the form of antibiotics. At the same time they performed a biopsy on her liver and the infection was widespread in her liver.
Several days have passed and Afton is feeling much better, however she is still continuing the course of antibiotics to make sure all infection is gone. Additionally, we are keeping a close eye on her liver function. Her liver has shown slight signs of malfunction, but we need to get beyond this infection to determine if there’s additional reasons for this.
Bridget and I have been taking turns staying at the hospital at night, and Afton’s nanny Brittany has been taking great care of her. We’ve also gotten great help from Afton’s grandparents.
Once again, we want to thank everyone for keep us in your thoughts.
