Surgeries
Afton has been doing well now that she is on antibiotics again. She is still in the the hospital but hopefully will be coming home tomorrow, July 12th.
Last week they did a minor surgery to remove her port. While they know the infections are coming from her liver they also believed that the bacteria was gathering on her port. This may be the reason why the infection was working it’s way into her blood stream so quickly.
Tomorrow she is having another minor surgery to put in a pic line. This will serve the same purpose as the port (easy iv access and blood draws). This line will come out her arm, like an iv does. We are already brainstorming anti-afton contraptions to keep her little grabby hands off of the line.
So, for mom’s birthday afton unfortunately will start the day with a surgery but hopefully will end it coming home. That would be a great present. Dad’s birthday is on Friday and we are already planning some family fun.
